Celebrated Soca music sensation KES (aka KES THE BAND) have released their steamy new single, “Banga,” just in time for summer’s end. Of the many musical acts that call Trinidad & Tobago home, none blend pop, rock, reggae, calypso dancehall and afrobeats as seamlessly as KES. PRESS HERE to listen!
“My ultimate goal is to continually push boundaries and shatter barriers within the realm of Soca music,” said Kes. With the diaspora experiencing unprecedented growth, my aim was to seamlessly blend elements of African and Trinidadian sound, to bring to you this ‘Banga.’”
As Soca has become a largely producer-driven genre, KES has carried the torch for live music, touring their full stage show year-round and bringing a sweet slice of the Caribbean to the rest of the world. Their latest, the Man With No Door Tour kicks off TONIGHT in Washington, DC with a SOLD OUT show at The Fillmore and will make stops in major markets throughout the US this fall, with new west coast dates just announced (full routing below). Tickets and more information can be found by visiting kestheband.com.
The release of “Banga” comes on the heels of KES performing, presenting and ultimately winning the People’s Choice Award at the inaugural Caribbean Music Awards. The next day KES performed a sold-out headline set to a crowd of 10,000 at SOCA FEST NYC. Earlier this year, KES collaborated with Shaggy on the buzzy single “Mood.”
Celebrated for instant Soca classics (including Carnival smash-hit “Wotless” and “Savannah Grass”) as well as laid-back island jams (“Tuesday On The Rocks,” “Hello”), KES has shared the stage with Major Lazer, John Legend and more, and collaborated with some of today’s top artists including Snoop Dogg, Shaggy, Jon Batiste – and the list goes on.
KES is charismatic singer Kees Dieffenthaller and his brothers Jon (guitar) and Dean James (drums), along with childhood friend, Riad Boochoon (bass). Their new album is coming soon! Stay tuned for more updates and information in the coming weeks.
