BRONX, N.Y. – Saint Louis received goals from CJ Coppola and Grady Easton in a big 2-1 Atlantic 10 Conference victory at Fordham Saturday night in the Bronx, N.Y.
The win helped the Billikens vault to second place in the A-10 with a 6-4-1 overall mark and a 3-1-1 record in A-10 play. Fordham drops to 3-2-7 overall and 1-1-3 in the league.
Freshman CJ Coppola got the Billikens on the board in the 12th minute with his second goal in as many games. He buried a rebound off a John Klein shot for his third goal of the season.
Easton made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute, the eventual game-winner, off an assist from Christian Buendia. Buendia sent a long ball into the area, and Easton headed it home to make it a 2-0 game.
Fordham scored late in the match to avoid the shutout, but SLU keeper Carlos Tofern totaled five saves on the night for the win between the posts.
SLU returns to action Tuesday night when it faces Blackburn at Hermann Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.
