My friend Chad Winch hosted Nick Lee, guitarist of progressive metal band “Moon Tooth,” for his latest episode of the Vulgar Display of Podcast – summarized and included below:
According to their Instagram handle, Moon Tooth shreds. As accurate as that might be, they also write well-crafted pop songs that once they’re in your head, they stay there. The Long Island quartet’s third full-length album Phototroph (Pure Noise Records) is a journey of complex technical instrumentation intertwined with melodic harmonies by vocalist John Carbone. Combining those two worlds is no easy feat as we hear in this interview where Moon Tooth guitarist Nick Lee chats with the Vulgar Display of Podcast about writing and recording Phototroph, the art behind the album, touring with bands of different genres, and having their own custom beer.
