Yungblud leans back singing loudly

“Are you ready to scream like never before?!” Yungblud’s voice boomed over the speakers before he appeared on stage to a sold-out crowd of mega fans (aka The Black Hearts Club) at The Pageant in St. Louis Tuesday night, February 22.

The chants of “Yungblud, Yungblud, Yungblud,” gave way to frenzied screaming when the 24-year-old blasted onto stage.

And Yungblud ate it up, relishing in the adoration bestowed upon him often pausing for a minute or more between songs so the fans could just scream. South Yorkshire, England native Dominic Harrison, aka Yungblud, reciprocated by blowing kisses and smiling wider than you’ve ever seen anyone smile before. The gleam in his eyes genuine. But he was here for one thing and that was to put on a rock and roll show which he did, no holds barred.

He also took time to share that it’s okay to be you just the way you are. That freaks are accepted.

Rarely still for more than a second, Yungblud’s energy is like an intoxicating drug and his music is all-powerful, pulling no punches in passion and meaning.

He had this to say about his Life on Mars Tour: North America which he’s about halfway through and also about his second album Weird!: which hekept his community of fans at the forefront of his thought process behind every track. ’When I finally get to play these songs live, I want to walk out to a crowd of people who feel liberated and happy and accepted, and feel like the reason we’re put on this Earth is a good one,’ says Harrison. So, while much of the album delves into painful subject matter, it ultimately telegraphs an undeniable sense of hope. ”My first album was severely bratty because I was so angry at the world, but this album is about finding a community of people who understand me, and about figuring out who I am from a place of love and acceptance. I hope it makes people feel like it’s okay to feel out of place or twisted or weird, because life is weird—but that’s what beautiful about it. So don’t ever try to live it as someone else. Live it as you.’”

His relentless energy and enthusiasm never waned throughout the night as he belted out his rock, pop-punk songs new and old including “strawberry lipstick,” “I Love You, Will You Marry Me,” “fleabag,” and “ice cream man.”

More than once the crowd overtook in the singing of his songs.

Yungblud has skyrocketed since his 2018 Van’s Warped Tour shows and from the looks of it he’s not slowing down any time soon.

The fashion-art/glam/indie/garage rock American/Canadian collective Palaye Royale warmed up the crowd for Yungblud with their powerful, non-stop fierce 45-minute set that shimmered and shook with songs such as “Nightmares,” “You’ll Be Fine,” and “Get Higher.”

Kerrang! named them one of the hottest bands in 2018 and it’s easy to see why as their sound engulfs you with their catchy, danceable, and sometimes hard-hitting hooks. Their tight, fun dynamic on-stage presence is hard to beat.

Kicking the night off was poutyface in her debut performance. The 20-year-old singer/songwriter showed no qualms during her short 25-minute set and already had a decent fan base in the growing crowd. She ended her set on a yet-to-be-released song, “Rag Doll.” Read our interview with the up-and-coming poutyface to learn more.
