Saint Louis men’s soccer was clicking on all cylinders from the opening whistle Sunday afternoon, topping Creighton 4-0 at Hermann Stadium.
Coupled with their double OT win against Louisville on Thursday, the Billikens are 2-0 on the young season. Creighton falls to 0-2.
Senior A.J. Palazzolo recorded his first goal as a Billiken to put SLU ahead 1-0 in the 25th minute. Patrick Wilkinson sent a ball into the box that Kipp Keller chested down. Palazzolo found it on the right side and sent one to the far post for the first goal of the match.
Freshman Seth Anderson scored his first collegiate goal to put SLU ahead 2-0 in the 33rd minute. Kevin Komodi and Wilkinson connected in the back. Anderson ran toward Wilkinson’s perfect serve out of the back and buried a shot past the Bluejay keeper.
SLU’s third goal of game came in the 57th minute on unselfish play from John Klein and Simon Becher. They went in all alone, and Becher sent the final pass over to Klein, who patiently waited for an opening and scored for his first goal of the game.
Freshman Daniel Moore completed the scoring in the 80th minute when he recorded his first career goal. Chris Alwang sent in a corner kick, and a running Moore flicked it toward the goal line. It initially appeared the defender cleared it off the line, but the linesman had a good look at it and signaled goal for a 4-0 Billiken final.
Billiken keeper Patrick Schulte made two saves for his 14th career shutout.
SLU outshot Creighton 22-6 and had a 13-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Billikens return to action on Friday, Sept. 3, when they travel to Chicago to face the Illinois-Chicago Flames at 7 p.m.
