Get ready. St. Louis-based power-pop disco-fuzz band Jesus Christ Supercar is releasing its debut EP Post-Madonna, recorded at St. Louis’ Native Sound, on May 15, 2020. Made up of Collin McCabe (bass, synth, guitar, vocals), Christopher Bachmann (guitar, vocals), and Tom Blood (drums, vocals), this matching-jean-jacket-wearing trio that formed in the summer of 2018 has quickly cemented itself as a high note in the local music scene.

Leading the way on what to expect from the other songs on the EP, “Ridealong,” is the first single released on April 14. The track starts out high and bright quickly weaving in a more driving, edgier pop sound with an almost ’60s-eraesque beach bunny movie vibe hiding in the background during the vocals.

And while all four tracks on Post-Madonna are catchy and show the breadth of JCS’s growing and evolving talent, “Not Dying” is the track that breaks through the clutter as the most solid and memorable song of the four.

Look for Post-Madonna online, where you can preorder the digital album for only $3, through Bandcamp. If you’re in St. Louis hopefully the EP will be pressed and available when record stores are, once again, open. Post-Madonna will be perfect for blasting on your car stereo with the windows down when you’re out for a little joy ride this summer — or at minimum, dancing around the house a la “Risky Business” style.
