Saint Louis junior swingman Javonte Perkins (St. Louis, Mo./Miller Career Academy/SWIC) was named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s co-Player of the Week for men’s basketball, the league announced today.
Perkins led the Billikens to a pair of road victories last week. Against Saint Joseph’s on Feb. 1, he scored a SLU season-high 33 points on 9-of-19 shooting from the field and 13-of-14 from the charity stripe. On Jan. 29 against La Salle, Perkins led the way with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
For the season, Perkins averages 13.4 ppg, including a team-best 17.3 ppg in A-10 games only. He is averaging better than 20 ppg over the Billikens’ last five games.
Perkins joins Hasahn French (Nov. 25) and Jordan Goodwin (Jan. 13) as SLU players who have earned A-10 weekly honors this season. This is the first time in school history that three different Billikens have earned conference Player of the Week honors in the same season.
Perkins and the Billikens are back in action on Wednesday night when they host Duquesne at Chaifetz Arena. Game time is 6 p.m. on FOX Sports Midwest.
