Saint Louis freshman guard Gibson Jimerson earned Atlantic 10 Conference co-Rookie of the Week honors on Monday, the league announced.
Jimerson averaged 10.0 ppg last week while helping the Billikens to a pair of victories. Against Boston College on Nov. 27, he scored 11 points, grabbed four rebounds and posted two steals.
In SLU’s win against Southern Illinois on Dec. 1, Jimerson buried 3-of-5 from 3-point range en route to nine points.
For the season, Jimerson is averaging 10.0 ppg and leads the Billikens with 18 3-pointers (2.3 per game). His 43.9% shooting mark from distance would rank fourth in the A-10 and tied for sixth in the NCAA among freshmen, but he is just short of the statistical minimum of 2.5 makes per game to appear on the lists.
Junior guard Jordan Goodwin was named to the A-10 weekly honor roll after averaging 17.0 ppg and 16.5 rpg. He pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds in the win against Southern Illinois. Goodwin and junior forward Hasahn French are tied for 19th in the NCAA with 10.4 rpg.
The Billikens (7-1), who are off to their best eight-game start since the 2011-12 season, are back in action on Sunday, Dec. 8, when they face Tulane in Phoenix, Arizona.
