I think most people knew (or hoped) it was only a matter of time before Sony and Marvel worked things out and that comicbook sites and the such loved blowing it all out of proportion and bathed in the glory of their clickbait.
Sony and Marvel have announced that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will return to the MCU and that a third movie will be be in theaters July 2021 as part of ‘Phase 4.’
“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue. I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.” – Kevin Feige said.
Apparently the initial falling out was more about Spidey’s absence from the Venom movie. Sony wanted him to make a cameo but Disney nixed the idea. Now under this new deal, Spider-Man will be able to exist in two cinematic universes… and he will most likely be seen in Venom 2.
