WASHINGTON, D.C. – Saint Louis senior Javon Bess led four Billikens in double-figures with 26 points as SLU registered a 73-58 Atlantic 10 Conference men’s basketball victory over George Washington Wednesday night at the Smith Center.

The win pushes the Bills to 16-9 overall and 7-5 in league play. GW falls to 7-17 and 3-8 in the league.

Bess’ game-high 26 points came on 5-of-10 shooting from the field, 4-of-6 from the arc and 12-of-12 from the free-throw line. His 12-12 mark from the stripe is second-best in school history, second only to Maurice Jeffers’ 14-14 performance in 2000.

Sophomore guard Jordan Goodwin neared his second triple-double in his career, finishing just shy with 10 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.

Fred Thatch Jr. was 5-of-7 from the field en route to 12 points, while Tramaine Isabell Jr. chipped in 12 points as well.

Hasahn French tied a career high with 13 rebounds. He also blocked two shots.

As a team, SLU shot 46.9 percent from the field, 40.9 percent from the arc and 81.8 percent from the charity stripe.

SLU led for the majority of the first half, but an offensive drought allowed George Washington to claw back into the game. Thatch led the Billikens in the opening half, scoring all 12 of his points in the frame and going 5-of-5 from the floor.

The Billikens used free-throw shooting and the 3-pointer to break the game open in the second stanza. SLU drilled 5-of-10 from the beyond the arc and made 13 of its 14 free throws in the frame to seal the win.

The Billikens are back in action on Saturday when they host La Salle at 4 p.m. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
