Blues Traveler brought the grit to The Pageant

Famed bluesy jam band Blues Traveler hit the stage last night at The Pageant.

After an over 30 year track record, the show was exactly what fans could expect of the group: roaring harmonica riffs, bluesy renditions of rock tunes, and the gritty vocals of lead vocalist John Popper.

While the crowd was mostly seated, their energy in support of the band was as hot as ever. Men whistled loudly at guitar solos, women screamed in adoration as the songs ended, and the whole room was clapping and swaying along to the music together.

This energy was predominantly built by openers Con Brio. The R&B group, fully equipped with horns and soul, stirred the room before Blues Traveler took the stage. Their upbeat, jivey music made me a fan and proved to be my favorite surprise of the evening.

A night of blues legends and the up-and-coming artists of soul… The Accelerated Nation Tour was one I won’t forget.
