THE BASICS
•Forced to play three games on Sunday due to insufficient field lighting for Saturday’s late-afternoon game, the Saint Louis softball team completed an undefeated weekend at the We Back Pat Tournament, hosted by UMKC.
•After edging Missouri State 2-1 in the resumption of Saturday’s game, the Billikens defeated Southeast Missouri State twice (10-1, 6-4) to claim the tournament championship.
•In its first tournament game Saturday, SLU downed UMKC 6-4. Click here to read the recap.
•Allie Macfarlane was named Most Valuable Player and was joined on the All-Tournament team by Maddie Baalman and Josie Knesel.

HOW IT HAPPENED — SLU-MISSOURI STATE
•Saint Louis took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when Hailey Weavers went deep with two outs, her third home run of the season.
•Missouri State pulled even with an unearned run in the top of the third.
•With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Kaylea Chappelle drilled a walk-off solo shot, her first home run as a Billiken.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES — SLU-MISSOURI STATE
•In addition to her game-winning homer, Chappelle went the distance in the circle. She allowed just five hits and struck out two in improving to 3-0.
•Mackenzie Peter, Allie Macfarlane, Alyssa Tarquinio and Josie Knesel had a single apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED — SLU-SEMO (1)
•SEMO grabbed the lead in the bottom of the first with its only run of the game.
•Saint Louis tied it on Macfarlane’s third homer of the season leading off the top of the second.
•Macfarlane struck again in the third with a two-out, three-run double.
•With two away in the fifth, the Billikens scored on a wild pitch and Macfarlane’s RBI double.
•Emma Buckles drove in a run in the sixth with a fielder’s choice.
•Kaylyn Breitbach finished the scoring in the seventh with her first home run as a Billiken, a three-run blast.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES — SLU-SEMO (1)
•Kallen Loveless tossed a complete-game 4-hitter to improve to 3-2. Loveless fanned three.
•Macfarlane tied her career highs of three hits and five RBIs.
•Breitbach added a single for her first multi-hit game as a Billiken.
•Peter banged out a double, while Knesel and Alex Nickel picked up a single apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED — SLU-SEMO (2)
•Macfarlane put the Billikens on the board with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the first.
•Knesel popped a two-out RBI triple in the second to make it 2-0.
•SLU plated four more two-out runs in the fourth. Knesel drove in the first two with a double, Nickel rapped an RBI double, and Buckles produced an RBI single.
•SEMO scored four times in the top of the seventh, but Chappelle came on in relief of starter Maddie Baalman to record the final two outs and her first collegiate save.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES — SLU-SEMO (2)
•Baalman improved to 4-2. She struck out six and allowed two earned runs and four hits in 6 1/3 innings.
•Macfarlane and Buckles had two hits apiece.
•Peter and Chappelle doubled.
•Tarquinio notched a single.

UP NEXT
•The Billikens play five games at Murray State’s Racer Classic FridaySunday, March 10-12. SLU faces Murray State and Austin Peay twice and Northern Illinois once.
