Saint Louis University women’s basketball achieved a 3.503 team grade point average for the 2015-16 academic year, placing the Billikens 15th in the nation on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for NCAA Division I programs.
Saint Louis, which earned the prestigious recognition for a fifth time in team history, is one of 15 Division I programs to repeat on the list after finishing sixth in the nation a year ago. The Billikens also landed on the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll in 2000-01 (eighth), 2006-07 (17th) and 1998-99 (23rd).
“I am extremely proud of our student-athletes for their excellent performance on and off the court,” head coach Lisa Stonesaid. “Achieving one of the top 15 GPAs in the nation for two consecutive years is not easy to accomplish, especially when you consider that our players have demanding majors. The determination and commitment to excellence they show on the court carry over to the classroom, and they have been rewarded for that with this honor.
“Our academic services staff also deserves a lot of credit for their guidance and hard work,” Stone said. “They, as well as our entire athletics administration, play a tremendous role in our success.”
Maddison Gits, Olivia Jakubicek, Jackie Kemph, Kerri McMahan, Erin Nelson, Jamesia Price and Paige Rakers earned inclusion on the Atlantic 10 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll (minimum 3.5 GPA) in both semesters. Jenny Vliet made the Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the fall, while Jordyn Frantz was a spring honoree. Kemph and Rakers were straight-A students in the fall semester.
