Saint Louis sophomore pitcher Brianna Lore has been selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic All-Region second team by a vote of the region’s head softball coaches.
Earlier this month, Lore was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference first team, was tabbed the A-10’s co-Pitcher of the Year and was chosen to the A-10 All-Academic team. She helped lead the Billikens to a school-record-tying 30 wins (30-21) and runner-up showings in the A-10 regular-season standings and postseason tournament. SLU’s second-place regular-season finish and .706 winning percentage (12-5) in conference games are program bests in A-10 competition.
Lore (25-13, 3.14 ERA) set Saint Louis single-season records for wins, innings (243), complete games (30) and starts (37), and her 42 appearances established a Billiken sophomore mark. She tossed two shutouts, one of which was a no-hitter against Southern Illinois, and registered one save.
Lore led the A-10 and finished the regular season ranked 18th nationally in wins, and she also topped the conference in strikeouts (157-tied), innings, starts and appearances. The left-hander averaged just 2.02 walks per seven innings and had a 2.24-to-1 strikeouts-to-walks ratio.
In conference games, Lore posted an 11-3 record and a 2.87 ERA. She issued just 1.32 walks per seven innings and had a 3.29-to-1 strikeouts-to-walks ratio. Lore earned A-10 Pitcher of the Week plaudits three times in addition to a pair of Player of the Week honors.
Lore also was a force at the plate for the Billikens, batting .271 with three home runs, 33 RBIs (second on the team) and 10 doubles (third on the team).
“It’s a great honor for Bri to be recognized by our coaches association for her accomplishments this year,” head coach Christy Connoyer said. “Not only did she set individual records, but she also helped lead our team to a record-setting season, culminating with an opportunity to win a conference championship. I’m very proud of her for representing Saint Louis University on a national scale.”
