Billikens Score 10 in Win Over George Washington

The Billikens tallied 10 runs on 11 hits in a 10-4 win over George Washington Saturday afternoon. Nick Bates (4-0) was the winning pitcher and now has 18 career wins, fourth all-time at Saint Louis. The Bills are now 16-9 overall and 5-0 in Atlantic 10 play.

Saint Louis was led offensively by Danny Murphy, who was 3-4 with a triple, two doubles, three runs scored and two RBIs. Braxton Martinez led the Billikens with three RBIs and went 2-4 with a deep home run to left in the fourth and two runs scored. Michael Bozarth extended his on-base streak to 24 games in the contest.

The Billikens stole four bases against the Colonials, two apiece from Bozarth and Mike Vigliarolo. Bozarth leads the team with 11 steals and Vigliarolo is second with five steals this season.

The SLU bullpen rose to the occasion against George Washington. The trio of Brett Shimanovsky, Nick Vichio and Brett Vanover combined for 2.1 scoreless innings without allowing a base runner. Shimanovsky struck out one in 0.2 IP and Vanover got two punchouts in 1.0 IP.

Saint Louis and George Washington will wrap up their three-game series tomorrow, March 30 at the Billiken Sports Center. First pitch is slated for noon. Sophomore southpaw Josh Moore will get the start on the hill for Saint Louis.
