Saint Louis sophomore Brianna Lore (Sullivan, Mo./Sullivan) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference softball Pitcher of the Week for March 17-23.
It is Lore’s second A-10 weekly honor this season following her selection as Player of the Week March 3. She has three conference weekly awards in her career, adding this year’s plaudits to a Rookie of the Week nod in 2013.
Lore posted a 3-0 record and a 1.47 ERA last week. She began the week by going the distance in a 4-3, nine-inning win over Kansas March 19, a game in which she worked out of numerous jams to keep the Jayhawks off the scoreboard in all but one inning. Lore also went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Lore was the winning pitcher in both games of a 2-1, 6-4 doubleheader sweep of Massachusetts in the A-10 openers March 22. She tossed a five-hitter, walked only one and retired 10 consecutive UMass hitters in the opener. In the nightcap, the left-hander worked the final three innings and allowed just one hit and one walk.
For the season, Lore owns a 10-7 record, a 3.03 ERA and one save. She averages just 2.24 walks per seven innings and has a 2-to-1 strikeouts-to-walks ratio.
Saint Louis players have been recognized five times and have earned all three A-10 weekly awards this season.Mackenzie Peter and Lindsay Friedman join Lore as recipients of Player of the Week accolades, while Alex Nickel has collected Rookie of the Week laurels.
