Junior RHP James Norwood threw a complete game one-hit shutout of Rhode Island to lead the Billikens to a 4-0 win over the Rams. He finished with six strikeouts and two walks. Norwood allowed a total of four base runners the entire game.

Norwood was lights out for the entire contest. He threw a total of 97 pitches, with his velocity sitting in the mid-90s. The lone hit surrendered by Norwood was an infield single in the fourth.

Mike Vigliarolo laced a double to left field in the third inning, to scored the Billikens’ first two runs of the game. He advanced to third on the throw to the plate. Vigliarolo later scored on a fielding error by URI, giving SLU an early 3-0 lead.

Saint Louis added another run in the sixth on a Josh Bunselmeyer sacrifice bunt, scoring Colton Frabasilio.

Vigliarolo powered the Billiken lineup, going 2-5 with a run scored and two RBIs. Alec Solé was also strong at the dish, going 2-5 with a run scored.

Saint Louis and Rhode Island will meet for game two, tomorrow, March 22 at 1:00 p.m. (CT). Junior RHP Nick Bates will get the start for the Billikens.
